{"id":2812,"date":"2020-12-30T01:33:57","date_gmt":"2020-12-29T23:33:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/heraldika.org.mk\/?p=2812"},"modified":"2020-12-30T01:40:37","modified_gmt":"2020-12-29T23:40:37","slug":"74-godini-na-znameto-na-sr-makedonija","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/heraldika.org.mk\/en\/news\/74-godini-na-znameto-na-sr-makedonija\/","title":{"rendered":"74 Years of the flag of SR Macedonia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2813\" src=\"https:\/\/heraldika.org.mk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/zname-1974.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"632\" height=\"372\" srcset=\"https:\/\/heraldika.org.mk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/zname-1974.png 632w, https:\/\/heraldika.org.mk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/zname-1974-300x177.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 632px) 100vw, 632px\" \/>The flag of the People\u2019s Republic of Macedonia for the first time officially was established in Article 4 of its first Constitution of 31 December 1946.<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a>\u00a0 It is red in proportions of 1:2.\u00a0 On it is a red five-pointed star in the canton, distinguished from the field by a yellow fimbriation.\u00a0 According to the 1974 law, the diameter of implied circle enclosing the star is 0.33 of the height of the flag, smaller than on the tricolor of the Yugoslavia, and of the republics of Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, and Slovenia, where it is 0.6 of the height of the flag.<\/p>\n<p>The basis of the design of the Macedonian flag emerged from the Conference of the General Headquarters of the National Liberation Partisan Units of Yugoslavia in Stolice in 1941. This laid the foundations of the partisan units of Yugoslavia, creating the basis for the future state union with Macedonia as a constituent part.<a href=\"#_ftn2\" name=\"_ftnref2\">[2]<\/a>\u00a0 Partisan units were defined as combat units of the peoples of Yugoslavia, and an advisory order defined the red five-pointed star, together with the national flag, as their distinguishing mark.\u00a0 This order used the general concept of military designation\u2014a national flag plus a red five-pointed star that would become part of the new concept of national flags of the federal republics in the Federation.\u00a0 In this order, Macedonia and its flag were not mentioned, but this concept was later reflected during the design of the Macedonian flag.<a href=\"#_ftn3\" name=\"_ftnref3\">[3]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the summer of 1942, the design of the Macedonian flag was discussed for the first time at the meeting of the General Staff of the Peoples\u2019 Liberation Partisan Units of Macedonia (PUM), when the commander, Mihajlo Apostolski, was preparing to go into battle leading the partisan units.\u00a0 He said: \u201cPartisan units should fly a flag.
