Vilnius the capitol of Lithuania, hosted the 5th International Colloquium of Genealogy, Heraldry, and Vexillology (ICGHV5) on May 22\u201323, 2026, drawing scholars, researchers, and specialists in genealogy, heraldry, and vexillology from more than twenty countries \u2013 including Argentina, Croatia, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Mexico, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine and United Kingdom.
\nThemed \u201cThe State and Noble Families: Political, Social, and Cultural Heritage\u201d, the event explored how dynastic traditions have shaped state identity, governance, and cultural symbolism. Keynote lectures emphasized the role of noble families in political legitimacy, while panels examined genealogical continuity and the migration of aristocratic symbols into national iconography. Exhibitions showcased rare coats of arms, medieval seals, and historical flags, offering both academics and the public a vivid connection to heritage.
\nMacedonian was represented by the lecture \u201cHeraldry in Medieval Macedonia: A Crossroads in Time\u201d by MHS Ivan Nacevski, vice president, which was presented by dr. Jovan Jonovski.
\nOrganizers noted that the colloquium fostered international collaboration, with institutions discussing projects to digitize heraldic registries and build comparative genealogical databases. With Vilnius\u2019s layered history as backdrop, ICGHV5 reaffirmed the relevance of genealogy, heraldry, and vexillology in understanding modern identity.<\/p>\n
