Julio Cesare Capaccio is an Italian
literary, theologian, historian and poet
from the Kingdom of Naples. In 1592, in
Naples, under his authorship, the work
Delle imprese, or On the Insignias, was
published. It is a heraldic work of the Ordinarium
type. It depicts various coat of
arms through blazons and emblazoned on
many different coats of arms. Julio Cesare
Capaccio’s Delle imprese has a significant
influence on the creation of the Korenic-Neoric
Armorial, and thus the entire Illyrian heraldry. The
appearance of the lion in the Macedonian Arms of
the Illyrian Armorial inevitably raises the question
of its origin and its relation to the lion from the attributed
Arms of Alexander the Great.
