The ‘old’ coat of arms survived in several places from the end of the 15th century in the most frequented receptacle of the community, in the churches. The ’old’ Szekler coat of arms lived on the coats of arms of two towns and one county. The elements of the ‘newer’ Szekler coat of arms, the sun and the crescent moon gradually found their way into the official coats of arms in the era of the Principality of Transylvania. The ruling princes, next to their family coats of arms, included the symbols of the Transylvanian estates in their coats of arms. In 1659 the Transylvanian Diet codified the seals of the estates. The Transylvanian counties should have a half of an eagle, the Szeklers should have a half moon and a sun, the Saxons should have seven towns. The tinctures of the Szekler nation’s coat of arms took shape based on the custom. The tinctures were visualized in the 1765 letter-patent issued by Queen Maria Theresia, promoting Transylvania to the rank of great-principality. The coat of arms of Transylvania containing the Szekler pair of symbols, were introduced in the ’middle’ coat of arms of Kingdom of Hungary after the Austrian-Hungarian compromise, they were also built in the coat of arms enacted in 1921 for the Kingdom of Romania.
Attila Istvan Szekeres Copyright (c) 2024 Attila Istvan Szekeres https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2024-08-20 2024-08-20 22 3 14 10.47763/mher242203isz Преглед на македонските одликувања - Survey of the Macedonian Decorations https://heraldika.org.mk/macedonianherald/index.php/mkherald/article/view/146
The first decorations used in today’s Republic of Macedonia are from the Democratic Federal Yugoslavia (later SFRY). The first authentic decoration of People‘s Republic of Macedonia is the Ilinden memorial medal from 1951 as a decoration of the Republic. After the independence of the Yugoslav Republics, Croatia and Slovenia had their first decorations in 1992, while the Republic of Macedonia only 13 years later, although the first law on decorations was passed in 1995. The path to the realisation of these state symbols was arduous. The law of 2002 laid the foundations of the Macedonian award system, which actually started with the defining the design and materials from which the orders and medals are made in 2005. The system has six orders: Order of the Republic of Macedonia; “September 8”; “Ilinden - 1903”; for merits for Macedonia; for military merits and “Saint Mother Teresa”. And five medals: for merit for the Republic of Macedonia; for bravery; of honour, “Eternal sun” and for participation in humanitarian or peace operations outside the territory of the Republic of Macedonia; and a Charter of the Republic of Macedonia. Out of 11 orders and medals, 25% are undefined, and the system has too few decoration. The awarding of orders and medals is extremely restrictive. This article deals with the Macedonian decorations in a wider context.
Jovan Jonovski Copyright (c) 2024 Jovan Jonovski https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2024-08-20 2024-08-20 22 15 68 10.47763/mher2422015j Македонско грбословно друштво — 20 години уметност на претставувањето - Macedonian Heraldic Society - 20 Years of Art of Representation https://heraldika.org.mk/macedonianherald/index.php/mkherald/article/view/147
A brief overview and categorization of the modern Macedonian blazons and visual analysis by considering the 20 years of activity in the Macedonian heraldic Register led by the Macedonian Heraldic Society.
