Symbolism

The two bars wavy represent the Pchinja River, which is also the main source of symbolism of the arms. Pchinja River flows from the Kozjak Mountain whose highest peak is Peren (Perun), and it flows into Katlanovo, ie between Skopje and Veles. It was this geographical duality among the Old Slavic gods Perun and Veles that was the basis for choosing the oak as a sacred tree for all the Indo-European gods thunderers. Thus, the crown of the oak symbolizes Perun, ie the sky, and the roots of Veles ie the underground. The splitting of the shield of two colors symbolizes the eternal struggle between these two deities.
