International activities 2011

In the period immediately following the publishing of the fourth issue of Macedonian Herald, MHS continued with its activities for promotion of heraldry and other auxiliary sciences of history – vexillology, faleristics, etc.
In this direction, several lectures were organized. Among other things, a lecture was also held by Prof. Dr. Ivan Balta from the Faculty of Philosophy in Osijek, on the topic of “Basics of Symbolism and Iconography”. The lecture was held at the Braka Miladinovci library, attracting great interest. In Ohrid, on October 12, 2010, at the “Ima Vreme” club, the President of MHS, Jovan Jonovski, held a basic lecture on heraldry.
Also, in the first week of December 2010, at the “Ilinden” regional primary school in the village of Konopnica, Kriva Palanka, heraldist Stojance Velickovski held a lecture on the importance and the process of creating symbols, and the pupils, through online communication, had the opportunity to ask questions while creating a symbol of their class. This project, in competition of more than 400 teachers and 137 primary schools from the Republic of Macedonia, won the first prize for most innovative teachers and schools.
From 12 to 17 of September, 2010, the 29th International Congress of Genealogical and Heraldic Sciences took place in Stuttgart, Germany. This congress was also attended by MHS, and on September 14, 2010, in Stuttgart, at the General Assembly of the International Confederation of Genealogy and Heraldry (CIGH), Mr. Michel Teyar D’Eri, president of CIGH, declared MHS a full member of CIGH.
There were also several guest visits to television stations and radio shows. The president of MHS, Jovan Jonovski, had two guest visits to MTM TV, on the occasion of the reception of MHS into CIGH. Heraldist Stojance Velickovski also had a guest visit to the Night Program on the Macedonian Radio, on February 28, 2011, whereby the following topics were covered: heraldry in Macedonia, Macedonian arms, local heraldry, procedure of creating personal and family arms, and current activities of MHS.

Тhe 24 Congress of International Federation of vexillolgy societies (FIAV) which will be held 1 to August 5, 2011 in Washington, USA. During the congress the General Assembly will be held where the Macedonian Heraldry Society should be granted full membership. As part of the application there will be a presentation of MHZ.
